INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS SPECIFIC TO PERMIT SUB-CLASS G1 SPECIFIC TRADE, BUSINESS AND SERVICES FROM THE REGION

ELIGIBLE PERSON:

This sub-class of resident permit shall be issued to a person who is a national from the country within East African Countries (EAC) and Communaute Economique des Pays de Grands Lacs (CEPGL) who engages in trade of goods or services.

DEPENDANTS:

Eligible dependents may accompany the principal applicant. But will have to apply for M2 resident permit.

WHERE TO APPLY:

*Applications should be submitted at the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration

TRAVEL DOCUMENT:

Any genuine and recognized travel document valid not less than 6 months.

PERMIT FEES:

20,000 frw

VALIDITY OF PERMIT:

2 Years

CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT:

Applicants are required to provide a certificate of good conduct from recognized law enforcement authority of the country they have been residents for the last 6 months.  
This certificate has to indicate whether the applicant has not had any criminal convictions. 

PERMIT EXTENSION:

This permit may be extended upon application.

CHANGE OF STATUS:

Change is permitted

WORK OR NO WORK:

Work is permitted

SINGLE OR MULTIPLE ENTRY:

Multiple entry

TRANSCRIPTION:

For applicant whose permit is in the passport which is expired or lost and requests for the permit to be transferred in the new passport, will have to pay 10,000frw.

REQUIREMENTS:

*One clear colored passport size photo with white background recently taken without glasses, caps and scurf; (the photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick. Stapling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable).

*Permit application letter addressed to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration.
*Business registration certificate
*Curriculum Vitae
*Original Police Clearance from the country you have lived in for the last 6 months
*Trading license (Patente)
*Memorandum of Understanding between businessman (If a business is in a partnership)

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:

*A complete filled application form: 
*Permit application letter addressed to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration from the employer
*Business registration certificate
*Trading license (Patente)
*Copy of green card

*A bank slip of 100,000 Rwf paid to RRA;  Click the following link to request for payment advice ticket to take to the bank.  
*Receipt of payment from Rwanda Revenue Authority

PROCESSING TIME:

3 Day

N.B:

To avoid penalties, the applicant should apply/renew his/her visa before expiration of the current visa. Penalty fee is 20,000frw in a period of 6 to 15 days of the delay. Article 34 of the Ministerial Order No. 02/01 of 21/05/2011 establishing procedures and regulations implementing Immigration and Emigration law, categorizes other penalties from 16 days to 9 months and above.
