INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS SPECIFIC TO PERMIT Sub-Class J1 INVESTOR IN HOSPITALITY AND RELATED ACTIVITIES

ELIGIBLE PERSON:

This resident permit shall be issued to a foreigner considered as an investor intending or engaged in hospitality industry and related activities in Rwanda. The investor must have been certified by RDB (Rwanda Development Board).

DEPENDANTS:

Eligible dependants may accompany the principal applicant. But will have to apply for M2 resident permit.

TRAVEL DOCUMENT:

Any genuine and recognized travel document valid not less than 6 months.

PERMIT FEES:

100,000 frw

VALIDITY OF PERMIT:

3 years

CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT:

Applicants are required to provide a certificate of good conduct from recognized law enforcement authority of the country they have been residents for the last 6 months.  
This certificate has to indicate whether the applicant has not had any criminal convictions. 

PERMIT EXTENSION:

This permit may be extended upon application.

CHANGE OF STATUS:

Change of status is allowed

WORKING IN RWANDA:

Business is permitted

NUMBER OF ENTRIES:

Multiple entries

TRANSCRIPTION:

For the applicant whose permit is in the expired or lost passport, will pay 10,000Frwfor the permit to be transferred in the new passport. 

REQUIREMENTS:

*One colored passport size photo with white background recently taken without glasses, caps and scurf. The photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick. Stapling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable.

*Curriculum Vitae
*Original Police Clearance from the country you have lived in for the last 6 months
*RDB’s investment Certificate
*Business registration certificate
*Trading licence (Patente)

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:

*One colored passport size photo with white background recently taken, without glasses, caps and scurf. The photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick. Stapling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable.

*RDB’s investment Certificate
*Business registration certificate
*Current Trading license (Patente)
*Copy of green card

PROCESSING TIME:

1 Day

N.B:

To avoid penalties, the applicant should apply/renew his/her visa before expiration of the current visa. Penalty fee is 20,000frw in a period of 6 to 15 days of the delay. Article 34 of the Ministerial Order No. 02/01 of 21/05/2011 establishing procedures and regulations implementing Immigration and Emigration law, categorizes other penalties from 16 days to 9 months and above.
